Liam was the most sweet, gentle, caring, and loving ray of light. Everyone absolutely adored him and he had a very special connection to all who loved him. Liam was so wise beyond his years; a true old soul. Liam’s laugh was so infectious, no one will ever forget that beautiful sound.

Liam loved music, especially country, dancing, and singing. He could fill a room with such joy and good energy. Liam was definitely a water baby; he started swimming lessons at 6-months-old and continued until his diagnosis with DIPG, a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor. Liam was a normal healthy boy who loved parks, throwing rocks at the beach, storytime, learning about bees and birds, especially hummingbirds which he could watch all day.

Prior to his diagnosis, Liam’s family noticed that he was unbalanced, had developed a fear of heights, his depth perception was off, and he was waking in the middle of the night with night terrors. Once his eye turned inward, his parents knew something was truly wrong and took him to the hospital.

After the emergency hospital visit to check out Liam's eye, Liam went in for an MRI. The look on the doctor's face said it all, as he told Liam’s parents that there was a mass on his brain and he needed to be transferred to BC Children’s Hospital. At BC Children’s, they were told that Liam had DIPG, an incurable palliative brain tumor. It shattered their world having to watch their precious child being slowly ripped away from them while there was nothing they could do about it. As a parent, you want to protect and keep your child safe and DIPG destroys everything. It's absolute hell watching your child get test after test, poke after poke, surgeries, undergo radiation with anesthesia for 30 straight days, knowing there's nothing you can do to help take away the fear and pain they are suffering. For Liam’s parents, having to watch Liam lose all functional abilities was the most traumatizing experience they’ve gone through as parents.

Liam was the best big brother to Brody who was only 5-months-old when he was diagnosed. Liam was always by his mom’s side helping her feed Brody bottles and changing diapers. He would sing the ABCs and Itsy Bitsy Spider to make Brody smile while he cried about getting his bum changed. Liam would even lay as quiet as a mouse on Brody's bedroom floor while his mom rocked Brody to sleep for his naps during the day. He shared all of his toys and showed Brody what they did and how to use them. Liam loved helping Brody bounce and jump in the jolly jumper. He was the greatest big brother. Liam now has a beautiful baby sister named Aurora who recently turned 1-years-old. Now Liam’s family can only imagine how much they would have loved each other and how they would play and grow up together.

Funding for research and finding the cure for DIPG means the world to Liam’s family. They will fight and honor Liam until their last breath. They can't wait for the day that no other child and family have to be torn apart by this horrific disease and there is a cure.
